On September 30th, Mr Rudi Janssens, (residential care manager of Hollebeek), welcomed guests to view the new 120 bed, and 46 service flats residential care facility. The home is located in the middle of natural green environment, and features large windows that provide a sense of open space, peace and natural light. The design reflects among other things a balance in terms of architecture and technology, with emphasis on comfort and economic feasibility of the project. The main sustainable feature of the building techniques is the method of heat distribution.
This is achieved via a combination of underfloor heating and concrete core activation with radiators on a low temperature regime. During the winter months it acts as a heat source through the operation of the heat pump and during the summer it provides the necessary cooling to achieve the desired summer comfort.
