‘Castelijm’ Town houses, apartments and underground parking Kapellen, BE Studiebureau Boydens

description

‘Castelijm’ is a green and sustainable neighborhood for young and old, consisting of 16 family town houses and 19 apartments.  A centralized car park zone in the front garden of the townhouses together with the underground parking for the apartments creates a car free zone and a carefree environment for the residents.

Sustainability is one of the major priorities within the project. First and foremost, it is a development on a brownfield where a re-purposing is designated to this former depleted site.  There is considerable attention paid to the building envelope of the townhouses and apartments with respect to the quality of insulation and the buildings airtightness.

All dwellings are equipped with an air/water heat pump connected to a low temperature heating system, a heat recovery mechanism on the ventilation system  and rainwater harvesting for each unit.
Town house owners have the option of placing PV panels on their roofs for further energy savings.
