Design & Build - police and fire station Borgloon - BIM designed Studiebureau Boydens

description

In Borgloon a new combined police and fire station was built to meet and enhance the needs of the surrounding area. The section of the building allotted for the police department consists of several rooms, all opening onto a central atrium, which during the warmer months will be utilized to provide natural night ventilation

The building envelope has a very favorable coefficient of thermal conductivity in combination with high-quality double glazing with integrated automatic controlled solar louvers.
The office building is equipped with demand-controlled ventilation in function of the indoor air quality and the temperature.
The adiabatic air group is equipped with heating and cooling coils making it possible to take advantage of cooling air passively without the use of compressor energy. Mechanical cooling is utilized to control the air humidity.

An HR-Top high efficiency condensing boiler is the primary means of heating the building which also ensures additional operational reliability. Radiators are also utilized in the offices to further enhance comfort levels of occupants. 10kWP photovoltaic panels are installed on the roof top of the carport. A central building monitor system is used not only to control the indoor climate, but the lighting and outdoor automatic solar louvers as well.
