Project description:

This new building houses a children’s daycare center and the green service of the municipality of Merksem.

The round building, with the playground in the middle, has a completely subterranean basement for the piping of the techniques. Under the jagged roof are the general technical areas and the green services.

The building is heated with a heat pump connected to a borehole energy storage field and underfloor heating (floor cooling in summer). This is the ideal technique to achieve the optimal comfort that babies and toddlers need. Radiators or convectors are unnecessary, so no sharp edges or hot tubes on which the children can hurt themselves. Also, hard-to-clean nooks and crannies are thus avoided. And this all contributes to a safe, hygienic, and child-friendly environment.

The ventilation with adiabatic cooling is of type D.

The building is equipped with a fire alarm system, intrusion surveillance, and video surveillance.

The sanitary facilities and electrical supplies were tailored to the building’s ‘users’.
