LCL recently took over Atos’ data centre in Huizingen. This acquisition makes it the fourth datacentre they own. Previously, they already had data centres in Aalst, Antwerp, and Diegem, where boydens engineering had also conducted various studies and was able to obtain its TIER III certification for the expansion of the data centre in Aalst.

In order to ensure that the latest data centre in Huizingen meets modern standards, it will be renovated in the first phase and integrated into the existing systems of LCL. All existing electrical and cooling installations were examined during a TIA audit. Eliminating the identified shortcomings is currently being put out to tender. For 1 of the 2 white spaces, the cooling installation will have to be completely renewed and the electrical installation integrated into the installation of the other white space. The cooling installation of the 2nd white space will be upgraded. During this exercise, special attention must be paid to the phasing of the works so that redundancy is guaranteed at all times.

During the renovation of the HVAC installation, it was decided to raise the free chilling temperature so that the share of free cooling was increased and the PUE was reduced in this way.
