Youth Hostel 'Pulcinella' in Antwerp, BE Studiebureau Boydens

In April 2007 Tourism Flanders started  the construction of the youth hostel  'Pulcinella' in the historical city  center of   Antwerp located on the Bogaardplein. This ambitious project is a positive step towards upgrading  the quality of youth hostel guest travels in Flanders. Moreover  Tourism Flanders manages to place Flemish cities on the international map for youth tourism  with this trendy , quality hostel of 150 beds.
There are rooms that can accomodate  2 to 4 people, each room is  each equipped with a private bathroom and toilet.  Type C  ventilation using fresh air especially through grilles above windows is used in the rooms.  The common areas such as the reception, the bar and restaurant are equipped with a ventilation principle D with heat.
The sanitary hot water is largely prepared using vacuum tube solar collectors, the remaining demand is generated by condensing boilers which are also responsible for heating the building.
The lighting design was achieved  in close collaboration  with the architect , to provide and achieve optimal integration of technology and aesthetics
